The PTA is all about supporting our students and teachers, fostering a sense of belonging, and creating fun and meaningful connections among families. We want every family to feel like they are a valued part of our school, and we’d love for you to be involved in whatever way works best for you!
The easiest way to make an impact? Join the PTA! Highlands PTA helps fund important resources that directly benefit our students, including:
Support for Teachers & Staff:
- Annual stipends for every teacher to purchase classroom items
- Grants for the whole school, like a sensory pathway, coding robots and a 3D printer
- Library fund for additional books and resources
- Funds for the school nurse to provide snacks, clothing, hygiene items, etc. for students in need
- Teacher appreciation efforts, including a treat trolley, monthly lunches, holiday luncheons and daily events during Teacher Appreciation Week
Support for Students & Families:
- Funding the majority of all field trips
- Providing yearbooks for all students
- Sponsoring 6th grade graduation activities
- Sponsorship of student groups like Girls on the Run
- Community funds that support projects like the Shawnee Mission Clothing Exchange
- But we’re not just about fundraising — we’re also about FUN! Events like our carnival, variety show, skate parties, Hawk Night Flight, bike and walk to school days, and annual auction bring our community together and create lasting memories for our kids and families.
Every dollar the PTA raises goes back into our school, making a real difference in classrooms, activities and special programs.
